How the days do pass...

I was sitting around after work today and I realised that I think in total, I only have about 27 days IN Madrid left. This is crazy...How the heck did this happen? I still feel like I've just arrived here. Time has just gone by so quickly. It's kind of scary really. In some ways I'm very much ready to go home. I miss my family and friends and general life back home. Also funnily enough I miss the routine of being at uni. But then again I love living here. I've made some amazing friends here and I love going out in Madrid. I'm also REALLY enjoying my singing lessons  SO MUCH. I don't want to have to leave. I know I can always come back but I honestly wish I could stay...but I need to leave. I'm going to enjoy these last few weeks as MUCH as possible!

So I've got a sore throat. Ick. It's just horrible. It's all scratchy and gross and sore. I wish it would just get better! It's giving me the shits! And I have a singing lesson on Saturday. Let's hope it's better by THEN!

So Paul FINALLY booked his tickets to Madrid (WOO). Only took a few months :P but I'm suuuuper excited! As always, I'm excited to see a familiar face over here! I'm planning out what we can do here! I think I can get one day off so we can probably go to Toledo on a day trip or something which would be great!

On Tuesday at one of my schools we said goodbye to two student teachers. Eva and Rebeca had been working with us for about 3 months. It was very strange not to have them in class today. The kids brought them all these presents and they had a little party out in the patio. It was also our teacher Mary's birthday, so they brought her presents too. It's amazing how much the kids care about the teachers here. It's fantastic! back home I don't think this happens very often, especially with student teachers, but it was just such a great thing to see! Then that night we went out for dinner for Mary's birthday and as a goodbye to Eva, Rebeca, Jose and Alix. Was a very lovely night! These are the kinds of things I'm going to miss once I'm back in Australia!

Me with Eva and Rebeca
So on the thoughts of going home, the one thing I've been thinking most about is FOOD! I can't wait to eat some of the things I've been missing. I've started to make a list that I will share with you here!:

  • Sushi rolls from Kenzan at GPO (These are some of the best take-away sushi rolls I've had in Australia. I miss them SO MUCH. Such things don't exist here in Madrid, or even in Europe. I miss my raw salmon and avocado rolls with extra wasabi mmmmmm. The hot food at Kenzan is also very tasty (mind you VERY expensive!)
  • A big and tasty breakfast. From any cafe really. There is this super nice place on Mailing Road in Canterbury that I like and also Trotters on Lygon St. I want my scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and hash browns! AHHHHH!
  • My mum's cooking. Oh man. I miss it SO FREAKING MUCH! I already asked her to make me Tori Karaage and Tempura on my first night back home. I also miss her amazing Spaghetti Bolognese and Lasagna.
  • Japanese white rice. Holy cow. When I'm back home I always complain about the rice. But I want to eat it SO BADLY here. I know I'll get sick of it when I'm back but I'm seriously craving it.
  • My red velvet cupcakes. I would always make a batch at least twice a month or so. They are so deliciously tasty! Cream cheese frosting. Mmmmmmmmm. I'm also looking forward to some general baking.
  • PANCAKES. I've had a craving for pancakes today. Not sure why...
  • Green tea frapp from Starbucks...ok only because they don't have them in Europe. I'm desperate!
  • UDON. mmmmmmmm seriously.
  • A nice loaf of bread...Normal bread here in Spain (like toast bread) tastes really strange to me. It's kind of sweet and sour at the same time. I'm not fond of it, so I generally don't eat it. I can't WAIT to get a big loaf and have peanut butter sandwiches and then maybe a vegemite sandwich!
  • Sandwiches. Here in Spain a sandwich only seems to contain ONE item. Maybe it has tortilla de patatas and one might have jamon all on a baguette. I do like it but I want a sandwich with LOTS of vegetables and cheese, ham and mustard! Or maybe a delicious tuna sandwich with LOTS of vegies and japanese mayo. mmmmmm
I'm sure I'll come up with some more foods but thats what I've been thinking about lately! Should be fab! Anyway. Pretty sure it's dinner soon, then I'm going for a drink with my new neighbor! Hopefully a drink will clear my throat lol!

OMG your food list has made me SO HUNGRY!!!

So, like, can I come over and el hang at your house and help you eat your mummy's amazing tasty sandwiches? Because they are amazing and I luuuuurve them so :D

I am also very excited to see you. I was just looking at the calendar and it's only 20 DAYS until I actually step off the plane into Spain. Seriously, if I weren't so stuffed up in the nose and wishing my cold would just bugger off, I'd be doing a crazy dance. Maybe later...

Love you xx
